The association was founded on the backs of people of good will, enthusiasts and volunteers who, with their human and personal financial resources and first donors, set out to build a shelter for people who, due to health difficulties, have to seek medical help in Zagreb.
The founders themselves, in the years before the foundation of the association, spent time in hospital corridors and rehabilitation institutions where they witnessed situations in which people from smaller environments, but also from other cities in Croatia, were referred for diagnostic examinations or long-term treatment and rehabilitation in Zagreb. They had the opportunity to see the parents of sick children who would spend the night on the bench in the hospital corridors or in the car, who would be fed poorly for days, as well as talk with those who had to temporarily move to Zagreb due to the illness of one of their family members, which in addition to the problems with the disease brought them financial problems.
The reception of the first beneficiaries was in a residential area in the immediate vicinity of KBC Zagreb—Rebro which was rented by the then newly founded association for the needs of free accommodation of people coming for treatment in Zagreb. In the same space there was a small desk and a computer on which the volunteers of the association performed tasks related to raising funds for the further survival of the association and the organization of daily receipts of new users.
